About

Neighbors at the end of the road

North End Prepares is a volunteer, neighbor-to-neighbor group for the peninsula communities at the northern tip of Kitsap County: Kingston, Eglon, Little Boston, Hansville, Point No Point, and the neighborhoods in between. We help households get ready and organize every block around a Block Captain, so we can take care of each other when the road, the ferry, or the power is out.

Why "the North End"?

Most of our area is served by one road. When Hansville Road closes, or the ferry and bridges are disrupted, our communities share the same situation. We organize around that reality. Read One Road In.

How we fit

North End Prepares is small on purpose. North Kitsap Fire & Rescue's North Kitsap Prepares program serves all of North Kitsap and is a great source of training and materials. We focus on the peninsula communities from Kingston north, organizing block by block.

Our partners

Our partners, the Port Gamble S'Klallam Tribe and the Suquamish Tribe, are independent communities with their own emergency management. We support them as neighbors and work together in partnership.

Local resources we work alongside: North Kitsap Fire & Rescue and Kitsap County Department of Emergency Management.

What we're not. We're an informal group of neighbors, not a nonprofit or a 501(c)(3), and we don't ask for donations. We're also not an official emergency agency. In an emergency, call 911 and follow instructions from Kitsap County DEM, North Kitsap Fire & Rescue, and tribal emergency management.

Who's involved

Coordinator and site lead: Rob. Area Leads for Kingston, Eglon / Little Boston, and Hansville / Point No Point are being named now.
