When help takes longer to reach the end of the road, trained neighbors make the difference. Here's where to learn.
CERT: Community Emergency Response Team
CERT is a series of classes taught by qualified professionals that gives Kitsap residents hands-on training they can use in their homes and neighborhoods. It's taught in a comfortable setting, with personal safety first.
You'll train in:
- Basic disaster preparation
- Fire suppression
- Disaster medical operations
- Light search and rescue
- Team organization and the Incident Command System
- Disaster psychology
- Terrorism incidents
Classes are usually 2.5 hours each. The course ends with a full-scale disaster drill at the Kitsap County Readiness Center Training Complex, run by Kitsap County DEM.
